Cordless Leaf Blower Buying Guide

Cordless Leaf Blower Buying Guide

A cordless leaf blower clears leaves, grass cuttings, sawdust and debris without petrol, a pull-cord or an extension lead. Here's how to choose one.

Cordless vs petrol vs corded

  • Cordless (18V): starts at the press of a trigger, is quieter than petrol, and has no lead to drag around. It shares batteries with your other tools.
  • Petrol: strong but loud and heavy, and it needs fuel and servicing.
  • Corded: limited by the length of the lead.

For patios, paths, drives, yards, garages, workshops and vans, cordless is the easiest choice.

Blower and vacuum in one

Our cordless blowers are 2-in-1: blow leaves and debris into a pile, then switch to vacuum mode for dust and small mess. They're handy for sawdust in the workshop, the van floor and car interiors.

Choose your battery system

Pick the blower that runs on your existing 18V batteries:

Batteries and run time

Blowing is high-draw work, so run time depends on the battery size and how hard you run the blower. For bigger gardens and yards:

  • choose a larger battery (8.0Ah where available);
  • keep a second battery charging, or buy a 3 or 4-battery kit with a dual charger.

See the 18V battery and charger guide.

Tips for clearing leaves

  • Work with the wind, not against it.
  • Blow leaves into one pile on a tarp, then lift the tarp.
  • Use short bursts on gravel so you don't move the stones.
  • Leaves clear more easily when they're dry.

Safety

Wear eye protection, and hearing protection for long sessions. Keep the nozzle pointed away from people, pets and windows.
