Building a DeWalt-compatible cordless set

A shared battery platform is the most cost-effective way to build a cordless toolkit: buy batteries once and every new tool is just the tool.

Which batteries fit?

Our DeWalt-compatible tools take 18V/20V slide batteries in the DeWalt-compatible format, including our own DeWalt-compatible battery packs and chargers in batteries and chargers. Each listing confirms the battery format.

Tool only, complete kit or combo kit?

  • You already have two or more DeWalt-compatible batteries — buy the tool only.
  • It's your first tool on this system — a complete kit with 2 batteries and a charger.
  • You work long days or run several tools — a 3 or 4-battery kit with a dual charger.
  • You need two or three tools at once — a combo kit on one set of batteries.

Tools by job

Battery size and runtime

Higher-capacity batteries (for example 8.0Ah) run longer between charges than smaller ones, which matters most for high-draw tools such as blowers, grinders and saws. A dual-port charger halves the waiting when you run more than one battery.

Why buy compatible tools?

Compatible tools let you add a paint sprayer, blower or caulking gun to the DeWalt-compatible batteries you already run, without paying for another battery platform. Every Pro Direct Tools product is listed with its own specification, so you can compare features such as brushless motors, speed settings and what's in the box before you buy.

Charging and battery care

  • Charge batteries indoors at room temperature, and let a hot battery cool before charging it.
  • Store batteries part-charged in a dry place if a tool won't be used for a few weeks.
  • Rotate batteries so they wear evenly — a dual charger makes this easy.
  • Keep the contacts clean and dry, and don't use a battery with a cracked case.

Delivery, returns and warranty

Orders placed before 6pm on a working day are dispatched the next working day from UK stock with tracked UK and Ireland delivery. You have 30 days to return a product if you change your mind, and every tool carries a 12-month warranty.
