How to choose a cordless leaf blower
A cordless blower is the quickest way to clear a driveway, patio, yard or workshop floor when a broom is too slow and a petrol blower is too much. There's no fuel to mix, no pull-cord and no cable to drag around, so it's ready the moment you pick it up.
1. Start with your battery system
The biggest saving comes from using batteries you already own. Our blowers are made to fit three of the most common 18V platforms: DeWalt-compatible, Makita-compatible and Milwaukee-compatible. If you already run a drill or impact driver on one of those, buy the blower for the same system and your existing batteries and charger will run it.
2. Tool only or a kit?
- Tool only — the bare blower. Best if you already have two or more batteries for that system.
- 2-battery kit — the blower, two batteries and a charger. Best for most people starting out: one battery in the tool, one on charge.
- 3 or 4-battery kit — with a dual charger. Best for long days, larger properties and farmyards, or if the batteries will also run other tools.
3. Blow and vacuum
All of our cordless blowers are 2-in-1. Use the blower to clear leaves and grit outdoors, then fit the vacuum attachment for dust and debris in garages, workshops, sheds and vans. One tool covers jobs inside and out.
4. Power and control
Check each listing for the details that matter to you. The Milwaukee-compatible blower, for example, has a brushless motor, air speeds of up to 180 MPH and six speed settings, so you can go from gently dusting a workbench to clearing wet leaves off a path.
5. Where cordless blowers work best
- Driveways and patios — leaves, grass clippings and grit, faster than sweeping.
- Lawns and borders — blow autumn leaves into a pile ready to bag.
- Farmyards and stables — clear walkways and yards without fuel cans.
- Workshops and garages — sawdust and offcuts off the floor and benches.
- Vans — blow out the load area at the end of the day.
6. Runtime and batteries
How long a blower runs depends on the battery size, the speed setting and the job. Higher speeds use more power. If you have a lot of ground to cover, a kit with more batteries — or a spare from our batteries and chargers — keeps you working while the others charge.
7. Safety and care
Wear eye protection, keep the nozzle pointed away from people and animals, and empty and clean the vacuum bag after use. Store batteries indoors in a dry place over winter.
