Buying guide

125 mm discs

All our grinders take 125 mm (5-inch) discs, the most common size for site and workshop work. Fit a cutting disc for steel, tile or stone, a grinding disc for welds and edges, or a flap disc for finishing.

Speed

The DeWalt-compatible grinder runs at up to 9,000 RPM. The Makita-compatible grinder runs at up to 10,000 RPM and has an LED to light the cut. Check each listing for its guard and handle options.

Typical jobs

  • Cutting steel bar, threaded rod, bolts and angle iron.
  • Cutting tiles, paving and stone.
  • Grinding welds and cleaning up rough edges.
  • Removing rust and old paint with a wire or flap disc.

Batteries

Grinding is high-draw work. A larger battery, or a 3 or 4-battery kit, keeps you cutting on long jobs.

Safety

Always fit the guard and side handle, use discs rated for the grinder's speed, and wear eye protection, gloves and hearing protection.
